Chotu Olympics 3.0

Chotu Olympics is one of the grandest and most special events conducted by Rotaract Club of Heritage Institute of Technology, with the aim of providing an annual sports day experience to underprivileged children.

The third edition of this event was held on 18th January 2020, and saw participation from an unprecedented 121 kids, showing the growth of its popularity over the years. Kids from our Shishya centres in Chingrighata, Netaji Nagar, Chowbaga, Dhakuria, Ruby, Suryakiran, as well as from Saujatya, an orphanage near Ganguly Pukur, poured into the Heritage campus early in the morning, with enthusiasm and smiles galore.

Starting off with a fun warm-up session, the

kids then geared up for the different competitions they were to take part in. The series of race categories included Flat Race (100m and 200m), Frog Race, Spoon and Marble Race, Sack Race, Hurdle Race, Relay Race and Jalebi Race, along with other games like Long Jump and Tug of War. The whole day event had occasional breaks for refreshments and a half-time break

for lunch as well.

The event was also graced by the presence of Commander sir, Campus Administrator along with Sunil sir, Rtn. Jyoti Mahipal, from Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar and Rotaractors from RC-Calcutta, which amplified energetic atmosphere. The main purpose of the event was thoroughly satisfied through the friendly competitive spirit and teamwork, that emerged as the day progressed. The final section was the prize distribution for each category, and the winners

went up one by one to receive their medals, wholeheartedly cheered on by their friends. At the

end, the students were given biscuits and fruit juice to replenish their energy, as they went back

home with tired yet happy faces.
